Perceelkaarten reuses open government data. For each source: who keeps it, what you see of it on the map, how current our copy is and where to consult the official version.

Official register and our copy
The data on this map comes from registers kept by public authorities. Perceelkaarten is not part of them. We download the open versions, process them and publish them as a snapshot. The source holder remains responsible for the data itself; we are responsible for our processing and presentation.
As a result our copy always lags somewhat behind. There is time between a change at the source holder, the open publication and our next data release. Every parcel page shows the source date and the published data release for each source. If you need the current official record, consult the source itself.

Kadaster: BRK, cadastral map and PDOK
Kadaster keeps the Key Register of Land Registry (BRK): the cadastral registration of real estate and property rights, and the cadastral map. Perceelkaarten uses the open cadastral map: parcel boundaries, cadastral references and the registered area. Personal data and sale prices are not part of that open data.
The map shows the approximate position of boundaries. Kadaster states that you cannot derive exact boundaries or measurements from it. Each boundary has a quality label: in 95% of cases the drawn boundary lies within 10, 20, 40 or 80 cm of its position on the ground (labels B to E). Most boundaries have the graphic quality D or E.
PDOK is the platform through which Dutch authorities publish geodata as services and files; Kadaster has operated it since 2018. The cadastral map on PDOK is updated daily for boundaries and parcel numbers and is licensed under CC BY 4.0. Our copy is a snapshot: a recent split may not be in it yet.

BAG: municipalities register, Kadaster collects
Municipalities are the source holders of the Key Register of Addresses and Buildings (BAG). They record buildings, units, caravan pitches, mooring places, places, public spaces and addresses. Kadaster runs the national BAG facility and makes the data available, for example in the BAG Viewer.
A municipality supplies a processed change to the national facility within one working day. The BAG services on PDOK are updated daily; the national GeoPackage that Perceelkaarten uses is refreshed monthly. A new address or a demolished building may therefore appear later on this map than in the BAG Viewer. BAG data is open data under the Public Domain Mark 1.0.
The BAG does not record ownership. On this map, the link between an address and a parcel is spatial: the address point lies within the parcel boundary. The guide on addresses and parcels explains more.

Topography: BRT and BGT
The background map uses TOP10NL from the Key Register of Topography (BRT), kept by Kadaster. TOP10NL is the most detailed BRT product and is usable at scales from 1:5,000 to 1:25,000. Kadaster updates it every year, in five deliveries.
The Key Register of Large-Scale Topography (BGT) is a far more detailed map of buildings, roads, water, railways and greenery, among others, accurate to about 20 centimetres. Its source holders include municipalities, provinces, water authorities, ProRail and several ministries; Kadaster runs the national facility. Perceelkaarten does not show the BGT. The BGT describes how the ground is laid out, not who owns it.

Elevation and subsurface: AHN and BRO
The Actueel Hoogtebestand Nederland (AHN), the national elevation dataset, is a joint effort of the water authorities, the provinces and Rijkswaterstaat. An aircraft scans the ground with a laser. The points classified as ground are turned into a terrain model (DTM) without buildings or vegetation. Perceelkaarten uses that terrain model for elevations and profiles relative to NAP, the Dutch ordnance datum.
The AHN is surveyed in rounds. AHN4 was measured between 2020 and 2022; the first part of AHN6 has been available since October 2025. The survey date therefore differs from area to area. A newly dug pond or raised ground may not yet show in the elevation data.
The Key Register of the Subsurface (BRO) holds data on the soil and the subsurface. TNO Geological Survey of the Netherlands runs BROloket and DINOloket on behalf of the Ministry of the Interior (BZK), where the data can be consulted publicly. From the BRO, Perceelkaarten shows only the soil map. Its source holder is the Ministry of Agriculture (LVVN) and Wageningen Environmental Research supplies it. The soil map describes the soil to a depth of 1.2 metres at a scale of 1:50,000 and, without further data, is not suitable for use at parcel level.

Aerial photographs
Beeldmateriaal Nederland is a partnership of Dutch authorities that commissions nationwide aerial photographs every year. Through PDOK they are free to use under a CC BY licence; the summer imagery has a resolution of 25 centimetres. Perceelkaarten loads the aerial photographs directly from PDOK and lets you choose a year.
An aerial photograph and the cadastral map come from different sources and were made at different times. A building in the photograph may not yet be in the BAG, and a fence in the photograph is not necessarily on the cadastral boundary.

What this map does not show
The Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE) keeps a register of all national monuments (rijksmonumenten). Municipal monuments are not in that register; ask the municipality about them. Provincial monuments exist only in Noord-Holland and Drenthe. Perceelkaarten does not show monument status. A parcel without any mention may still be protected.
The Klimaateffectatlas (climate impact atlas) shows where flooding from heavy rain, heat, drought and floods may occur. The Climate Adaptation Services foundation manages it on behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. The atlas itself says its maps are coarse and indicative at local level and not suitable for local decisions. Perceelkaarten does not show these maps.
Environmental plans from the DSO and the BGT are not on this map either. A missing layer is therefore not a statement about a parcel. If you find an error in a source, report it to the source holder. If you find an error in our processing, report it to us through the About page.
