From address to parcel: what is the relationship?

Addresses, BAG buildings and BRK parcels describe different objects. Read them together without assuming ownership or a surveyed boundary.

Start with the address

Search by street, house number and town. Check the postcode and source status: a newly formed addressable unit is different from a unit in use. This map uses a published snapshot. A recent municipal change may not appear yet. Keep the BAG identifier as well as the address when discussing a record with someone.

Check the association

A BRK parcel describes a cadastral area with its own reference. A BAG building describes a structure, while an addressable unit describes a usable unit. A building can have several addresses and touch several parcels. This map associates addresses with parcels by testing whether their source points lie inside complete parcel boundaries. That is spatial evidence, not an ownership statement or a registered legal relationship. For a boundary point, several possible parcels or an unreachable source, it does not select a nearby parcel.

Keep areas separate

Registered area and area calculated from parcel geometry can differ. BAG overlap means something else again: only the part of a building footprint that touches this parcel. Do not add it to the usable floor area of addressable units. To verify a building, copy the BAG building ID from the map and search it in the official BAG Viewer. If you need the exact boundary on the ground, discuss boundary reconstruction with Kadaster.
